Biography

Saint Triverius, also known as Trivier, Triviero, or Troverio, was a spiritual child who dedicated his life to a solitary and contemplative existence. He is remembered as a hermit who lived near the monastery of Thérouanne and later made his home in Dombes, both located in Neustria, Gaul (modern-day France). The French village of Saint Trivier is named after him, a testament to his revered status in the region. Not much is known about Triverius's early life, including his exact birthdate or his family background. However, historical records indicate that he was a devoted Christian from a young age and possessed a deep yearning for a life of solitude and spiritual pursuits. Seeking a path that would allow him to fully immerse himself in prayer and contemplation, Triverius chose to become a hermit. Triverius initially settled near the monastery of Thérouanne, where he could draw inspiration and guidance from the religious community. The monks recognized his spiritual fervor and provided him with support and mentorship. Triverius absorbed their teachings, delving deeper into his faith and fostering a strong devotion to God. However, driven by his unyielding spirit of solitude, Triverius eventually left Thérouanne and made his way to Dombes.
