Biography

Saint Ronan of Iona, also known simply as Ronan, was a revered monk who resided at the renowned Iona Abbey. He was actively involved in the ecclesiastical controversy surrounding the celebration of Easter, particularly in relation to Saint Finan of Iona. Ronan's unwavering commitment to his faith and his role as a confessor of the faith made him a significant figure in the early Christian community. Not much is known about Saint Ronan's early life or his family background. However, it is believed that he was born in the 7th century in Ireland and later joined the monastic community at Iona Abbey. This monastery, located on the small island of Iona in Scotland, was at the heart of Christianity's expansion in the region, and its monks played a crucial role in spreading the faith throughout Britain.
