Biography

Saint Wilfrid the Younger, also known as Wilfrith, was a notable monk and abbot in the early Christian period. He was born in Northumbria around the year 634 and is believed to have been a direct spiritual student of Saint John of Beverley. Although there is limited information available about his early life, it is said that he was drawn to the monastic life from a young age. Wilfrid joined Beverley Abbey, situated in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, as a monk. There, he devoted himself to prayer, study, and the pursuit of spiritual growth under the guidance of Saint John. Through his dedication and innate wisdom, Wilfrid became known for his deep spirituality and commitment to the teachings of the Church. Due to his exceptional qualities, Wilfrid was eventually chosen to serve as the abbot of Beverley Abbey.
