Biography

Saint Venantius of Spalato, also known as Venantius of Split, Venanzio, and Wigand, was a notable bishop in the Dalmatia region of modern Croatia. He is believed to have been martyred along with several Christian companions. Although there is limited information available about his life, the accounts of his martyrdom provide valuable insights into his faith and courage. Venantius was born in an era when Christianity was spreading rapidly throughout the Roman Empire. He felt a strong calling to serve God and dedicated his life to the church. Ordained as a bishop, he became known for his holiness, wisdom, and pastoral care. During the reign of the Roman Emperor Valerian, Christians faced severe persecution.
