Biography

Saint Simon Phan Ðac Hòa was a devoted Catholic who lived in the tumultuous period of the early 19th century in Vietnam. Born around 1787 in Mai Vinh, Thua Thiên, Vietnam, he was a remarkable man who led a fulfilling and inspiring life. Simon Phan Ðac Hòa was a deeply devout Catholic and embraced his faith wholeheartedly. He was married and had a family, embodying the ideals of love and commitment. As a result, he was imprisoned, subjected to severe floggings, and ultimately executed for his unwavering commitment to Christ on 12 December 1840 in An Hòa, Quang Nam, Vietnam. Saint Simon Phan Ðac Hòa's sacrifice and martyrdom exemplify the depths of his faith and dedication to God. Recognizing his heroic virtues, Pope Leo XIII declared him venerable on 2 July 1899, signifying his remarkable path towards sainthood.
