Biography

Saint Salaun of Leseven, also known as Salomon, was a humble and devout man who lived during the 14th century in a forest clearing outside Leseven, Brittany, France. He gained recognition for his simple lifestyle, poverty, and unworldliness, which led people to perceive him as the village idiot. However, it was only with time that they discovered the depth of his spirituality and the profound impact he had on those around him. Born into poverty, Salaun chose to live as a beggar in the forest clearing outside Leseven. Despite his impoverished state, he greeted everyone he met with the expression "Ave Maria!" – a testament to his strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Additionally, he spent his days singing beautiful Marian hymns, which echoed through the woods and touched the hearts of all who heard them. For many years, Salaun was misunderstood and dismissed as an eccentric.
