He gave his castle at Campo Regio to Saint Peter Damian, a renowned theologian and reformer of the Church. This act of generosity demonstrated Saint Rudolph's commitment to a life of poverty and simplicity. Shortly after this selfless gesture, Saint Rudolph joined the Benedictine monastery at Fonte Avellana under the guidance of Saint Peter Damian himself. The Benedictine order was known for its strict adherence to the Rule of Saint Benedict, which emphasized prayer, community living, and manual labor. Saint Rudolph wholeheartedly embraced this way of life, dedicating himself to a rigorous routine of spiritual and physical discipline. Saint Rudolph's unwavering commitment to the Church did not go unnoticed, and in 1061, he was appointed as the Bishop of Gubbio. As bishop, he diligently fulfilled his pastoral duties, caring for the spiritual well-being of his flock and guiding them in their faith journey. His humility and deep compassion for others were evident in his actions, earning him the title "miracle of unselfishness." Throughout his life, Saint Rudolph became known for his boundless charity.
