Biography

Saint Pezenne, also known as Pazanne, Peccina, Pecinne, Pexine, Pezhenn, Pitère, Piterre, and Pithère, was a devout Christian who lived during the late 3rd century in Spain. She is believed to have fled her homeland and sought refuge in France to escape the intense persecutions of Christians under the Roman emperor Diocletian in the early 4th century. Arriving in the region of Niort, France, Pezenne's strong faith and dedication to Christianity became evident to the early Christian community there. She soon joined forces with another prominent Christian figure, Saint Macrine, who shared her commitment to the Gospel. Together, they founded a small monastery in the area, aimed at providing a safe haven for fellow believers seeking solace and spiritual nourishment during a time of great persecution.
