In the face of this brutal oppression, Pelagia stood firm in her conviction, refusing to denounce her faith. It is said that Saint Pelagia was betrayed by informers who revealed her Christian identity to the authorities. She was arrested and brought before the pagan magistrates. Despite the attempts of the magistrates to persuade her to renounce her faith, Pelagia remained steadfast and resolute. For her refusal to abandon Christianity, Saint Pelagia was sentenced to death. On July 11th, in the year 320, she was beheaded in Nicopolis, becoming a martyr for her faith. Her martyrdom was witnessed by many, and her unwavering faith left a profound impact on all those who witnessed her sacrifice. Although not much is known about Saint Pelagia's representation or her specific patronages, her steadfast faith and martyrdom have made her a symbol of courage and devotion to Christians throughout history.
