Biography

Saint Mummolus of Fleury, also known as Mummolo, Mommolus, Mommolenus, or Munmolo, was a Benedictine monk and abbot at Fleury Abbey. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church. While not much is known about his early life, Saint Mummolus's contributions to the Church and Fleury Abbey are highly regarded. Saint Mummolus was appointed as the abbot of Fleury Abbey, which is located in modern-day Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire, France. During his time as abbot, he brought relics of Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica to Fleury. These relics were highly revered and attracted pilgrims from all over, contributing to the abbey's growing popularity. Eventually, the abbey became known as Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire due to the presence of these relics. As the abbot of Fleury, Saint Mummolus was responsible for the spiritual and administrative welfare of the monastery.
