Biography

Saint Mavilus of Adrumetum, also known as Majulus, was a devout Christian martyr who lived during the reign of Emperor Caracalla in the early 3rd century. He is venerated as a saint for his courage and steadfast faith in the face of persecution. Born in Adrumetum, a city located in present-day Tunisia, little is known about Mavilus's early life and family background. However, it is believed that he was raised in a Christian household and received a religious education that instilled in him a strong devotion to his faith. During the reign of Emperor Caracalla, a period marked by the intense persecution of Christians, Mavilus, along with many other believers, faced the difficult choice of either renouncing their faith or suffering the consequences. Despite the danger and potential for severe punishment, Mavilus remained steadfast in his refusal to worship the Roman idols. In the year 212, Mavilus was cruelly thrown to wild animals in Adrumetum, North Africa, as a means of execution.
