Saint Matthew of Gravedona Sul Lario, also known as simply Saint Matthew, was a revered Catholic saint and martyr. Not much is known about his early life, but it is believed that he may have served as a soldier in the Theban Legion. Saint Matthew's faithful devotion to his Christian faith led him to martyrdom. During the persecutions under the Roman Emperor Maximian in the early 4th century, he bravely refused to renounce his beliefs.
