Biography

Saint Magnus of Orderzo, also known as Magno, was a revered bishop in the early Christian Church. Born in Venice, Italy, Saint Magnus devoted his life to serving God and spreading the teachings of Jesus Christ. He is celebrated as the patron saint of Venice, a city that holds him in high regard for his dedication and influence. Saint Magnus was appointed Bishop of Orderzo, located in Treviso, Italy. He carried out his episcopal duties with unwavering faith and exceptional leadership, becoming a source of inspiration for the faithful. However, in the year 638, the Lombard invasion posed a serious threat to Orderzo and the surrounding regions. Faced with the danger of imminent destruction, Saint Magnus made the difficult decision to transfer his episcopal see to Heraclea, now known as Citta Nuova. This act of prudence ensured that the spiritual and pastoral needs of the people under his care would continue to be met, despite the turbulence caused by the invading Lombards. Saint Magnus displayed immense courage and foresight in prioritizing the welfare of his flock above his own comfort and position.
