Biography

Saint Lucerius, also known as Lucerio, was a devout Benedictine monk who lived during the early medieval period. He was born in Italy and served as a spiritual student under Saint Thomas of Farfa. Lucerius eventually became the second abbot of the monastery at Maurienne, France, a position he held from 723 until his death in 740. Little is known about Saint Lucerius' early life, but it is believed that he entered the monastic life at a young age. He joined the Benedictine Order and dedicated himself to a life of prayer, contemplation, and service to God. Saint Lucerius' mentor and spiritual guide, Saint Thomas of Farfa, played a significant role in his formation as a monk.
