Biography

Saint Lubentius, also known as Libentius, Libenzio, Lubencio, Lubenzio, and Lubin, was a spiritual student of Saint Martin of Tours and an evangelist in the Moselle region of Germany. He was born in the 4th century, but the exact date of his birth is unknown. Lubentius was ordained by Saint Maximinus of Trier and dedicated his life to serving the Church as a parish priest in Kobern, Germany. He was known for his deep spirituality and his commitment to spreading the teachings of Christ along the river Lahn. As an evangelist, Lubentius traveled extensively, preaching the Gospel and converting many to Christianity. The Moselle region, where he carried out his mission, was a place that greatly benefited from his dedication and spiritual guidance. The people of the region admired him for his kindness, humility, and strong faith. Lubentius lived a life of devotion to God, exemplifying the virtues of a true disciple. Some relics can be found in Kell, Andernach, and Lahnstein, while others are housed in the Saint Lubentius church in Kobern and Trier, Germany. Saint Lubentius was recognized as a saint before the formal canonization process was established by the Catholic Church. His sanctity, however, has been acknowledged and celebrated by the faithful throughout the centuries. On October 13th, his feast day, the faithful honor Saint Lubentius and commemorate his life and contributions to the growth of the Christian faith. In the past, his feast day was also celebrated on October 16th in Limburg, Germany, and on February 6th for the translation of his relics.
