Biography

Saint Leoniano of Vienne, also known as Lezin, was born in Pannonia (present-day Hungary) during the early 6th century. Not much is known about his early life, but historical documents suggest that he was captured by barbarians and taken as a prisoner to Autun, France.

After enduring years of captivity, Saint Leoniano finally gained his freedom and decided to dedicate his life to serving God. He joined a monastery and became a monk, devoting himself to a life of prayer, austerity, and self-discipline. Due to his exceptional piety and wisdom, he was soon appointed as the abbot of the monastery in Vienne, France.

As the abbot of Vienne, Saint Leoniano led a large community of monks and nuns for over four decades.
