Saint Kentigerna, also known as Caentigern, Kentigerna of Loch Lomond, or Quentigerna, was born in Ireland, the daughter of Prince Kelly of Leinster and Saint Coellen. She was the sister of Saint Comghan and the mother of Saint Fillan. Kentigerna's life is a testament to her unwavering commitment to her faith, even in the face of hardship and opposition. In order to protect herself and continue her devotion to God, she made the decision to flee to Scotland. It was in Scotland that Kentigerna lived out the remainder of her life, leaving behind her homeland and everything she knew. After the death of her husband, Kentigerna dedicated herself to a life of solitude and prayer. She became an anchoress, choosing to live in seclusion on Inchebroida Island in Loch Lomond. There, she found solace and peace in her relationship with God. It is worth noting that to this day, there is a church on the island that bears her name, a lasting testament to her devotion and influence. Saint Kentigerna's life was marked by simplicity, humility, and a deep love for God. She sought to live a life of holiness, and her example inspired those around her.
