Saint Isacius of Nicomedia, also known as Isaac of Nicomedia or Isaacius of Nicomedia, was a palace attendant to Empress Alexandra, the wife of Emperor Diocletian. He lived during a time of severe persecution of Christians under the reign of Diocletian. Little is known about Saint Isacius' early life, but his dedication to his faith is evident in his actions during the persecution. When the persecutions initiated by Diocletian began, Saint Isacius openly identified himself as a Christian and refused to renounce his faith. As a result, he was arrested, imprisoned, and subjected to various forms of abuse. During his imprisonment, Saint Isacius remained steadfast in his devotion to God. Despite facing unimaginable suffering, he continued to profess his faith and inspire other prisoners with his unwavering conviction. In the year 302, Saint Isacius was condemned to a slow and agonizing death by starvation. He endured this harsh punishment with great courage and unwavering faith in God's mercy. Throughout his ordeal, he offered prayers and hymns, serving as an example of faithfulness and resilience to those around him. Saint Isacius of Nicomedia's martyrdom serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless Christians during the early years of the Church. His steadfast devotion and refusal to renounce his faith in the face of immense suffering make him a symbol of martyrdom and an inspiration for believers.
