Biography

Saint Hadelin of Sees, also known as Hadelin of Seez, Adelheim, Adelelmo, or Adelino, was a renowned Benedictine monk, abbot, and bishop of Sees, France. Little is known about his early life, including his birth date or place of origin. He is believed to have been born around the 9th century. Hadelin devoted his life to the service of God, and he entered the Benedictine Order at the monastery of Saint-Calais in France. He lived a life of deep prayer, asceticism, and dedication to the monastic ideals. Hadelin's holiness and knowledge led him to be appointed as the abbot of Saint-Calais, where he guided and inspired his fellow monks in their spiritual journey. In 884, Hadelin was chosen to serve as the bishop of Sees, a diocese located in present-day Normandy, France. As a shepherd of souls, he worked tirelessly to spread the teachings of Christianity and to uphold the spiritual well-being of his flock.
