Biography

Saint Gredifael of Wales, also known as Gredifaelus, was a renowned Welsh saint who lived during the 7th century. He is often remembered as a loyal friend and co-worker of another revered saint, Paternus of Wales. Very little is known about the early life and background of Saint Gredifael. However, it is believed that he was born in the 7th century in Wales, in a region that is now known as Dyfed. His birth name and family background have unfortunately been lost to history. As Saint Gredifael grew older, he felt a deep calling to dedicate his life to serving God. He joined the monastic community at Whitland Abbey, located in Dyfed, Wales. This abbey was known for its strong commitment to the spiritual life and its influence on the Christian communities in the region. Under the guidance and mentorship of Saint Paternus, Saint Gredifael flourished in his spiritual journey. The two saints worked closely together in the abbey, exemplifying a profound friendship and camaraderie.
