Biography

Saint George of Lodève, also known as Georgius or Georges, was a Benedictine monk at the monastery of Saint-Foi-de-Conques in Rouergue, France. He lived during the 9th century and played a significant role in the religious and cultural history of the region. George's life was marred by unfortunate events, starting with the destruction of the monastery by Norsemen in the year 862. Faced with the tumultuous situation, he had to flee to Vabres, which was located in the diocese of Rodez, France. This forced relocation marked a turning point in his life and spiritual journey.
