Saint Frithestan, also known as Frithustan, was a renowned spiritual student and bishop in Winchester, England. Little is known about his early life and background, but he is most prominently recognized for his association with two notable saints, Saint Grimbald and Saint Plegmund. Frithestan was a devoted pupil of Saint Grimbald, a renowned Anglo-Saxon scholar and Benedictine monk. Grimbald played a significant role in the revival of learning during the late 9th century and influenced Frithestan's spiritual formation. Frithestan's time spent with Grimbald undoubtedly shaped him into the faithful and compassionate leader he would become. In the year 909, Frithestan was consecrated as Bishop of Winchester, a position he held for 23 years until his death in 933.
