Biography

Saint Francis Trung Von Tran, also known as Francis Trung or Phanxicô Tran Van Trung, was born around 1825 in Phan-xa, Vietnam. He was a devout Catholic convert, and in addition to his strong faith, he served as a layman and soldier in the Vietnamese army, reaching the rank of corporal. During the period of extreme religious persecution in Vietnam, Saint Francis Trung was arrested for his unwavering commitment to Christianity. He was ordered to renounce his faith, but he courageously refused, remaining steadfast in his devotion to Jesus Christ. His refusal to denounce Christianity placed him among the ranks of the Martyrs of Vietnam. On October 6, 1858, Saint Francis Trung was executed by beheading in the town of An-hoa, Vietnam.
