Biography

Saint Exuperius of Vienne, also known as Exupère, was a martyr of the early Christian Church who met his untimely death during the persecutions under the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Born in an unknown date, Exuperius lived in Vienne, a city located in what is now modern-day France. Little is known about Exuperius' early life and upbringing; however, his enduring faith and dedication to Christian teachings became evident when he bravely professed his commitment to the Christian faith despite the oppressive climate of the time. During the reign of Marcus Aurelius, who ordered the persecution of Christians, Exuperius fearlessly spread the Gospel message of love, peace, and salvation. As the imperial persecutions intensified, Exuperius became a target of persecution and was arrested for his refusal to renounce his faith.
