Eustorgius II became the Bishop of Milan in the year 512, taking on the responsibilities of shepherding the local Christian community during a period of great turmoil. It was a time when invading barbarians posed a significant threat to the region, and Eustorgius faced numerous challenges in protecting the faithful. One notable accomplishment was his tireless efforts to ransom Christians who had been abducted by these invading barbarians. Despite the hardships and the significant financial strain this placed on the local Church, Eustorgius spared no expense in ensuring the safety and freedom of his fellow believers. Aside from his courageous acts during times of crisis, Eustorgius II made significant contributions to the development of the Church in Milan. His teachings and sermons were widely regarded, and he was known for his deep understanding of theology and his ability to relate it to the everyday lives of the people he served.
