Little is known about the early life of Saint Etherius, as historical records are scarce. However, it is believed that he was a devout Christian who dedicated his life to spreading the teachings of Christ despite the constant threats and dangers posed by the persecution of Christians by the Roman Empire. During the reign of Emperor Diocletian, a fervent opponent of Christianity, Saint Etherius faced severe persecution along with many other faithful followers.
