Saint Etchen of Clonfad, also known as Echen, Ecian, Eciano, Éidchéan, and Etchenius, was a revered Monk and Bishop who made significant contributions to the development of Christianity in Ireland during the 6th century. He is particularly remembered for founding a renowned monastery in Clonfad, Leinster, Ireland, and serving as its abbot. Born in 490 in Ireland, Etchen dedicated his life to the service of God from a young age. He embraced the monastic way of life, seeking solitude and devotion to prayer as a means to grow in spiritual understanding and faith.
