Biography

Saint Epitacius of Tuy, also known as Epictetus or Epictritus, was the first bishop of Tuy, Galatia (in modern-day Spain). He is remembered for his holiness, zeal for the faith, and numerous miracles attributed to his intercession. Not much is known about Saint Epitacius's early life, including his exact date of birth. However, historical records indicate that he was a dedicated disciple of the Apostles and received his calling to serve as a bishop from Saint Paul himself. When she heard of the saint's presence in the city, she mustered the strength to crawl toward him, hoping for a miracle. Saint Epitacius, filled with the Holy Spirit, laid his hands upon her, and immediately the woman was able to walk and move freely. Saint Epitacius's impact extended beyond his miracles. He was known for his humility, simplicity, and exemplary life of prayer and penance. Saint Epitacius of Tuy's feast day is celebrated on May 23rd, commemorating his glorious entry into eternal life.
