Biography

Saint Eochod of Galloway, also known as the Apostle of the Picts of Galloway, Scotland, was a spiritual student of Saint Columba and one of the twelve individuals chosen by him to evangelize northern Britain. He was a significant figure in the spread of Christianity in the region during the early medieval period. Little is known about the early life of Saint Eochod. However, it is believed that he was born in the 6th century and hailed from the area now known as Galloway, located in southwestern Scotland. He embraced a life of dedicated service to God and became a student of Saint Columba, one of the most prominent Irish missionaries and monastic figures of the time. Saint Eochod was part of a group of twelve individuals specifically selected by Saint Columba to carry out the mission of spreading Christianity throughout the northern regions of Britain.
