Biography

Saint Droctoveus, also known as Droctonius, Droctovée, Droctovius, Drote, Drottoveo, and Drotté, was a renowned Catholic Monk and Abbot in France during the 6th century. He was born in Auxerre, France, and little is known about his early life and family background. Saint Droctoveus dedicated himself to a life of spirituality and entered the order of monks in one of the abbeys in Paris, France. He became a student of the highly respected Saint Germanus of Paris, a renowned scholar and bishop of the Church. Under Saint Germanus' guidance, Droctoveus deepened his spiritual knowledge and grew in his devotion to God. Due to his exceptional piety and dedication to the monastic life, Droctoveus was eventually appointed as the Abbot of Saint Symphorium Abbey in Autun, France. As an abbot, he worked tirelessly to promote discipline, religious studies, and the spiritual development of his fellow monks.
