Saint Deodatus of Nevers, also known as Adeodate, Deodato, Didier, Die, DieuDonne, or Donato, was a renowned monk and a significant figure in the Catholic Church. Born in Gaul (modern France) in an unspecified year, he lived during a time of great Christian transformation and played a vital role in spreading the faith throughout the region. Saint Deodatus is best known as the founder of Ebersheimmunster, a monastery located near Strasbourg, France. He established this monastic community and served as its founding abbot, overseeing the spiritual growth and development of the monks. His commitment to a life of devotion and disciplined religious practice set an example for his followers and enhanced the flourishing of the monastic tradition in the region. In addition to his work at Ebersheimmunster, Saint Deodatus was appointed as the Bishop of Nevers in France around the year 655.
