Saint Cywyllog Ferch Caw, also known as Cwyllog or Cywellog, was born a princess and the daughter of Saint Caw, who was the King of Arecluta, a district located on the River Clyde in Scotland. In her early years, Cywyllog lived a regal and privileged life within her father's kingdom. However, tragedy struck when Caw was forced out of his kingdom by the Picts, prompting him and his family to flee to Twr Celyn in Anglesey, Wales. It was during their time in Wales that Cywyllog's spiritual journey truly began to unfold. Deeply moved by her father's unwavering faith and the tumultuous events they experienced, Cywyllog decided to dedicate her life to God and the Church. Inspired by her newfound religious devotion, Cywyllog founded the church in Llangwyllog, Wales.
