Biography

Saint Coprio, also known as Coprio of Bethlehem, was a renowned figure in the early Christian Church. Born unknown, he was abandoned as an infant on a dungheap, which in Greek is referred to as "koprìa," by his parents. Fortunately, his fate took a positive turn when he was discovered and rescued by the monks of the renowned monastery of Saint Theodosius in Bethlehem. The monks, captivated by the innocence and helplessness of the abandoned child, decided to take him under their care and raised him as their own. They named him Coprio, signifying the circumstances of his discovery. Growing up within the monastery, Coprio was enveloped in an environment of piety and devotion, shaping his character and instilling in him a deep sense of spirituality from an early age. As Coprio matured, his exceptional qualities became evident to those around him. He exhibited remarkable virtues, showcasing humility, compassion, and dedication to prayer and asceticism.
