Biography

Saint Casdoe, also known as Saint Casdoe of Persia, was a noble woman born in Persia during a time of great persecution for Christians. She is counted among the early martyrs who bravely held onto their faith despite immense pressure and persecution from the authorities. Little is known about Saint Casdoe's early life, but it is believed that she came from a noble Persian family. She married a man named Saint Dadas, who himself would later be recognized as a saint, and they lived a devout Christian life together. It is also believed that Saint Gabdelas, who may have been their son, was also martyred with them for their refusal to deny their faith. During the reign of King Shapur II, Christians faced severe persecution in Persia. King Shapur II, known for his staunch opposition to Christianity, sought to eradicate the faith by forcing Christians to renounce it or face severe consequences. However, Saint Casdoe and her family remained steadfast in their Christian beliefs, refusing to deny their faith even in the face of death. In the year 368, Saint Casdoe, alongside her husband Saint Dadas and possibly their son Saint Gabdelas, were arrested for their unwavering devotion to Christianity. Despite numerous pressures and temptations, they remained faithful to their beliefs, choosing to remain steadfast until the very end. It is reported that they were offered various rewards and honors should they renounce their faith, but they steadfastly rejected these offers, willing to endure any suffering for their love of Christ. As a result, Saint Casdoe, along with her husband and possibly their son, were martyred for their refusal to deny Christ.
