Biography

Saint Calupan, also known as Caluppano and Caluppanus, was a monk who devoted his life to serving God and his fellow believers. He was born around the year 526 and lived in Meallot, a town in Auvergne, France. From a young age, Calupan felt a strong calling to the monastic life, and he eventually joined the monastery at Meallot. As a monk, Calupan exemplified the virtues of obedience, humility, and self-discipline. He devoted himself to prayer, fasting, and a life of rigorous asceticism. His commitment to the religious life and his deep spirituality set him apart, and he quickly gained a reputation for his holiness and wisdom. After many years of dedicated service within the monastery, Calupan felt called to retreat further into the solitude of the wilderness. He sought a hermit's life and found a cave near the monastery where he spent his later years in seclusion. In this solitude, he focused even more intensely on his spiritual pursuits, spending hours in prayer and contemplation. Saint Calupan's reputation as a holy man continued to grow, and people sought him out for guidance, wisdom, and spiritual counsel. His words and example inspired many to deepen their faith and pursue a life of righteousness. On March 3rd, 576, Saint Calupan peacefully passed away in Auvergne, France, at the age of 50. Although no specific representation or patronage is attributed to Saint Calupan, his life serves as an inspiration for all who seek to deepen their relationship with God and live a life of devotion and holiness.
