Biography

Saint Prosdoce, also known as Prosdoce of Syria, was a Christian martyr who lived during the time of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. She was born in Syria and was the daughter of Saint Domnina, a devout Christian, and the sister of Saint Berenice. Having been brought up in a faithful Christian family, Prosdoce developed a deep love for God and a strong commitment to her faith. As the Roman Empire intensified its persecution of Christians, Prosdoce and her family faced great danger and continued to practice their faith in secret. In the year 303, the persecutions of Diocletian reached Syria, and Prosdoce became a target of authorities due to her unwavering devotion to Christ. Refusing to renounce her faith, she was arrested along with other Christians and brought before the local authorities. Despite the threats and tortures inflicted upon her, Prosdoce remained steadfast in her faith. She vehemently defended her beliefs, proclaiming her loyalty to Christ until the end. As a result, she was sentenced to death, becoming a martyr for her unwavering devotion. Saint Prosdoce died in the year 303, courageously giving her life for the sake of her faith.
