Biography

Saint Berard of Bèze was a Benedictine monk and martyr who lived during the 9th century. He is primarily known for his courageous defense of the altar at the monastery of Bèze, located in the region of Côte-d'Or, France, against Norman invaders. Born sometime in the 9th century, Saint Berard entered the Benedictine monastic life and dedicated himself to a life of prayer, study, and service to God.
