Saint Babolenus of Stavelot-Malmédy, also known as Babolin, Badolenus, Papolenus, or Papolin, was a 7th-century Catholic missionary bishop in the Netherlands. He is believed to have been born in the 6th century, though not much is known about his early life. Despite the limited historical records, the impact of his missionary work as well as his friendship with Saint Remaclus have solidified his place in Catholic history. As a missionary bishop, Babolenus dedicated his life to spreading the teachings of Christianity throughout the Netherlands. He traveled extensively, preaching the gospel, establishing churches, and converting many to the Christian faith. His tireless efforts in evangelization earned him a reputation as a dedicated and inspirational shepherd of the Church. Babolenus was particularly close to Saint Remaclus, another prominent bishop and missionary of the time.
