Feast Day: January 19
Death: January 1, 270
Saint Audifax of Persia, also known as Audifax of Persia, was born into a noble family. He was the son of Saints Maris and Martha and the brother of Saint Abachum. Despite his privileged background, Audifax felt a strong calling to convert to Christianity. During the reign of Aurelian, when Christians were facing intense persecution, Audifax and his family decided to embark on a pilgrimage to the tombs of the Apostles in Rome. They left Persia and made a perilous journey, facing numerous challenges and dangers along the way. However, their faith remained steadfast, and they finally arrived in Rome. Unfortunately, their arrival coincided with a particularly brutal wave of persecution against Christians. Audifax, along with his family, was captured by the authorities. Upon their capture, they were brought before the Roman authorities and commanded to renounce their faith. Audifax and his family, however, refused to renounce their beliefs, choosing instead to remain faithful to their Christian convictions. As a result, Saint Audifax, along with his entire family, was martyred. They were beheaded on the outskirts of Rome, specifically at Saint Ninfa, located 13 miles from the city. Their deaths occurred in the year 270. After their execution, the relics of Saint Audifax and his family were buried in Rome. It wasn't until 1590, over a millennium later, that their relics were discovered and venerated by the faithful. Within the Catholic Church, Saint Audifax of Persia is recognized as a saint and has been canonized. Although there is no specific representation associated with him, he is honored on various feast days. His primary feast day is celebrated on January 19th, while the Jerusalem martyrology commemorates him on January 16th. Additionally, Saint Audifax is revered as the patron saint of Caselette, Italy. Through his life and martyrdom, he serves as an inspiration and intercessor for those facing persecution, maintaining faith amidst adversity, and seeking protection in difficult circumstances.
