Born on October 5, 1901, in Ahuetita de Abajo, Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico, his life was marked by a courageous devotion to his faith and a deep love for his people.

Recognizing his heroic actions and his ultimate sacrifice, Saint Atilano Cruzalvarado was venerated by Pope John Paul II on March 7, 1992, through the decree of martyrdom. His cause was further acknowledged on November 22, 1992 when he was beatified by Pope John Paul II. Finally, on May 21, 2000, he was canonized as a saint by the same pope, joining the ranks of the heavenly intercessors and standing as a source of inspiration for Catholics worldwide.
