Saint Aptonius of Angouleme, also known as Saint Aptonius of Aptunculis or Saint Aptonius of Angoulesme, was a prominent figure in the Catholic Church during the 6th century. Born in an era fraught with political and religious upheaval, Aptonius rose to prominence as the bishop of Angouleme, Aquitaine (modern-day France). Although scant information is available about his early years, it is believed that he devoted himself to the service of God from a young age.
Saint Aptonius assumed the role of the bishop of Angouleme in the year 541, taking on the spiritual leadership of the diocese and its faithful, entrusted with guiding them towards a deeper relationship with God. As the bishop, he promptly set about overseeing the administration of the diocese, ensuring the spiritual well-being of his flock, and providing pastoral guidance.

Although the exact date of his canonization is unknown, it likely occurred prior to the formal establishment of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

His feast day is observed on October 26th, commemorating his life and profound contributions to the Church.
