Little is known about Saint Anglinus' early life, but his spiritual journey led him to Stavelot-Malmédy Abbey, one of the most prominent monastic establishments in the region during that time. He entered the abbey as a humble monk and soon displayed exceptional piety, devotion, and wisdom. His unwavering commitment to the monastic life and his leadership qualities eventually led him to become the Abbot of Stavelot-Malmédy Abbey. As the abbot, Saint Anglinus took on the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day activities of the abbey, including the spiritual guidance of the monks, the administration of the abbey's lands and resources, and the promotion of the monastic way of life. Under his leadership, the abbey flourished both spiritually and materially. Saint Anglinus was known for his wise and just decision-making, his humility, and his dedication to the teachings of the Church. During his tenure as abbot, Saint Anglinus furthered the spiritual and intellectual pursuits of the abbey, promoting scholarship and the preservation of knowledge. Stavelot-Malmédy Abbey became a center of learning, attracting scholars from around the region. It was during this time that the abbey developed its famous scriptorium, where numerous religious texts and manuscripts were copied and preserved. Despite Saint Anglinus' accomplishments and noble character, he himself remained humble and regarded himself as a servant of God. He emphasized the importance of prayer, meditation, and self-discipline as a means to grow closer to God and live a life of holiness. Saint Anglinus is remembered for his piety, sanctity, and deep devotion to God. Although not officially recognized as a patron saint, he serves as an inspiration for those seeking spiritual growth and a model of committed monastic life. His feast day is celebrated on October 28th.
