Biography

Saint Alfwold of Sherborne, also known as Ælfwold, was a devout monk who dedicated his life to the service of God and the Catholic Church. Born in Winchester, England, he became a prominent figure in the ecclesiastical landscape of medieval England. Little is known about Saint Alfwold's early life, but it is believed that he entered the monastic life in Winchester. In 1045, Saint Alfwold was appointed as the Bishop of Sherborne, a town in present-day Dorset, England. He worked diligently to promote the teachings of the Catholic Church, caring for the spiritual needs of the faithful in the surrounding areas. One of the notable aspects of Saint Alfwold's life was his deep devotion to Saints Cuthbert and Swithun.
