Biography

Saint Alexander of Constantinople was a courageous soldier in the imperial Roman army who is revered as a martyr and saint in the Catholic Church. They were soon discovered, and their true identities were revealed. As a consequence, both Saint Alexander and Saint Antonina were subjected to unimaginable torment and torture. Their hands were severed, the ultimate symbol of incapacitating their ability to serve God and others. Despite enduring indescribable pain, they remained steadfast in their faith, unwavering until the very end. Finally, their tormentors decided to end their suffering by burning them alive. In the year 313, in the city of Constantinople, Saint Alexander of Constantinople and Saint Antonina became martyrs for their faith, sacrificing their lives for their deep-rooted belief in God. The canonization of Saint Alexander of Constantinople took place prior to the establishment of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, known as Pre-Congregation. This means that he was officially recognized as a saint by popular veneration and by the local Church. Despite the lack of physical representation attributed to him, his legacy lives on through his martyrdom and the enduring stories of his unwavering devotion to God. As for his feast day, Saint Alexander of Constantinople is commemorated on the 3rd of May each year. While he may not have a specific patronage assigned to him, his life and example inspire countless individuals to this day, encouraging them to stand firm in their faith, even in the face of adversity.
