Biography

Saint Aigulf of Bourges, also known as Aigulphus, Ayoul, Aieul, Aout, or Hou, was a revered Catholic figure from Bourges, France. He was born in Bourges and received a well-rounded education, which contributed to his later spiritual pursuits. After the death of his parents, Aigulf decided to dedicate his life as a hermit and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional personal sanctity. Despite his preference for solitude, Aigulf was called to a greater service when he was reluctantly appointed as the bishop of Bourges, France in 811. It is said that he was chosen due to his exceptional holiness, wisdom, and knowledge of the faith.
