Biography

Saint Agricola of Tongres, also known as Agricolus or Agricolaus, was a renowned bishop who served the city of Tongres in present-day Belgium in the year 384. Born in the 4th century in the Netherlands, he dedicated his life to the service of God and the Church. Little is known about Saint Agricola's early life and upbringing; however, it is believed that he received a sound education in theology and religious studies. His intellectual prowess and devotion to his faith led him to be ordained as a priest at a young age. In the year 384, Saint Agricola was appointed as the Bishop of Tongres, a significant episcopal see in the region. During his time as bishop, he worked tirelessly to spread the teachings of Christianity, taking special care in shepherding his flock and ensuring that the faith flourished. As a bishop, Saint Agricola was known for his humility, kindness, and dedication to the well-being of his people.
