Saint Aceptismas of Hnaita, also known as Aceptismas of Honit, Acépsimas, or Acesimus, was a prominent figure in the early Christian Church. He served as the Bishop of Hnaita in Persia and lived to be over 80 years old. His life was marked by his unwavering faith and commitment to his duties as a religious leader. Born in an era fraught with Christian persecution, Aceptismas faced immense challenges throughout his life. King Sapor II, known for his harsh treatment of Christians, initiated a period of intense persecution. Aceptismas, along with many of his fellow believers, endured unimaginable suffering for their faith. Throughout his episcopacy in Hnaita, Aceptismas was devoted to preaching the teachings of Jesus Christ and providing spiritual guidance to the local community. He led by example, demonstrating love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to God. While in his advanced years, Aceptismas faced increasing hostility from King Sapor II's forces. Despite his age and frailty, he refused to renounce his faith and remained steadfast in his commitment to Christ, even in the face of imminent danger. On 10 October 376, Aceptismas was brutally beaten to death for his refusal to renounce his faith. His martyrdom serves as a testament to his unwavering devotion to God and the Christian faith. Although he endured great suffering, he did not waver or falter in his steadfast commitment to Christ. Aceptismas of Hnaita has been honored and venerated throughout the centuries for his courage and fortitude in the face of persecution. His memory is celebrated on 22 April and 3 November in the Greek Orthodox tradition, as well as on 2 September in the Syriac Orthodox tradition. While Aceptismas does not have a specific patronage or representation associated with his name, his life and martyrdom continue to inspire and motivate Christians around the world. His example reminds believers of the importance of standing firm in their faith, even in the most challenging circumstances. Although Aceptismas of Hnaita has not been officially canonized by the Catholic Church, his courageous life and martyrdom certainly make him worthy of veneration and recognition as a saint. His dedication to the Gospel and unyielding commitment to Christ serve as an enduring example for all Christians.
