She was the daughter of Premislaus Ottocar I, the king of Bohemia, and Abdela or Adela, the daughter of Otto, the margrave of Meissen. Abdela was also the half-sister of another saint, Saint Agnes of Bohemia. From an early age, Abdela showed a strong devotion to God and a profound desire to dedicate her life to serving Him. Recognizing her calling, she made the decision to become a nun and entered the religious life. She joined Gerenrhoda Abbey, where she committed herself to a life of prayer, service, and contemplation.
