Martyrs of Armenia

Biography

The Martyrs of Armenia were a group of courageous Christian soldiers who lived during the 2nd century in the imperial Roman army of Trajan. While stationed in Gaul, they faced a daunting challenge when ordered to sacrifice to pagan gods. Despite the potential consequences, they steadfastly refused to renounce their Christian faith. As a result of their refusal, they were subsequently transferred to Armenia.

In Armenia, these brave soldiers found themselves once again being ordered to worship pagan deities. But just like before, they remained resolute in their commitment to Christ. They valiantly chose to sacrifice their own lives rather than compromise their faith by partaking in idolatry.

While we don't have detailed information about all the members of this group, we do know the names of three martyrs: Eudoxius, Macarius, and Zeno. Their names have been preserved as a testament to their unwavering devotion to God and their courageous defiance of the Roman authorities.
