Biography

The Carthusian Martyrs were a group of devout Carthusian monks who bravely stood up for their faith during a tumultuous period in English history. Their unwavering commitment to Catholicism and refusal to acknowledge the English royalty as the head of the Church ultimately led to their martyrdom.

Between the dates of 19 June 1535 and 20 September 1537, these courageous monks were subjected to the brutal punishment of being hanged, drawn, and quartered for their religious beliefs. Despite the extreme torture they endured, they held fast to their convictions and remained steadfast in their refusal to compromise their faith.
